Classify and build your rules

Create go-forward monitoring rules

1. Select the + icon in the left rail to create a new rule.
2. Choose whether to create a rule to monitor:
   • User actions: Enable specific events to monitor.
   • Data entries: Enable specific data categories to monitor, with options to enable common data types. Hover over Disabled for each data type you want to monitor, and select the probability that this data type will appear in your Smartsheet plan.
3. Select remediation actions for detected events or data types (logging is enabled by default):
   • Email
   • Share
   • Transfer
   • Unshare
4. Name your rule.
5. Repeat as needed for additional rules.

Once your rules are in place, you can also scan your entire plan for existing data that may already violate them.
